The “Ladder of Virtue” (Jacob’s Ladder)
With a wooden settlement dating in the first decades of the 16th century, the Sucevita was built before 1582 and it impresses the visitor way before reaching it, as it is surrounded by 6 m. tall and 3 m. thick defensive walls complete with buttresses, ramparts and corner towers that make it look like a fortress. The church features exquisite frescoes with scenes from the Old and New Testament, with the colour scheme (mainly green and light colours) turning the visit into a real joy for the eyes.
